7 days before election night.
So it's seven days before the General Consolidated Election and so far I've eaten way too much pizza, which is the heart and soul of campaign food. I've been doing 10-hour days every day for a few months and it's an amazing learning experience...but the pizza is seriously killing me.
More importantly, an intense high level of buzz has been built in the last month around the Daly campaign. We're kicking ass and taking names...literally. We're dispatching surges of volunteers every half hour. We have no open phone lines. We are constantly out of toner. Our fax machine rarely works when we need it to. There's always too much pizza.
Seven days before the election voters are starting to get a little irritated at all the phone calls. People are starting to lose their nerve a little more, worry a little more, and get distracted more easily. Funny thing is, though, that if you have cute young college girls making phone calls, it'll be a total insentive for college interns to stay later and do whatever they can.
At this point I don't care who takes down what sign, what area is canvased with door hangers, or who from the other camp is doing visibility where. I care about fillng the phone lines, handing out lists, feeding people pizza, and getting the results data entered.
Less than a week to go. I'm going to miss it.
